McNary XC

Estrada first at Stayton

There were no lights or mud pits at the Stayton Invitational, just a “normal” race for the first time this season. And McNary cross country was ready.

Junior Vince Estrada finished with the top time in the boys competition as the Celtics finished second as a team.

Estrada’s time of 17 minutes, 40 seconds was four seconds ahead of Sprague’s Dakota Neaman. Estrada’s teammate, senior Cain Duncan, finished third at 17:45.

The boys varsity team finished in second place out of 12 schools, behind only Sprague, and three points ahead of Mountain View.

The girls varsity finished in third place of nine teams. The fastest time from a Lady Celtic runner was Jocelyn Schnurbusch’s 22:10, a 15th place finish.

The Celtics night time out is Wednesday’s first Central Valley Conference meet at Bush Park.
