KPD, Salem Bomb Squad respond to Keizer call

At approximately 2:17 p.m. on Tuesday, Keizer Police responded to a 911 call at the Keizer Station Apartments in the 5400 block of McLeod Lane NE. 

As a result, a 21-year-old male was charged with misdemeanor domestic menacing after he threatened his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend with a firearm.

Keizer ready for a Night Out

Keizer’s National Night Out 2023 has been set for Tuesday, Aug. 1. The Keizer Police Department will sponsor the annual city-wide event in partnership with the National Association of Town Watch, running from 6 to 9 p.m. 

Chief stresses prevention

John Teague, who will retire as Keizer’s police chief Sept. 30, is known for focusing on crime prevention and strict adherence to procedure.

Teague started his police career along with eight others at the Keizer Police Department in 1989. He stayed with the department until April 2009, when he became the police chief of Dallas. He returned as the Keizer chief in April 2009 and has been here since.

Arrests made in Keizer Station sting

Eight people have been arrested in a joint retail theft operation in Keizer Station.

The Keizer Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and asset protection employees converged on the stores and the surrounding area to conduct surveillance. The nine-hour operation included the clearing of numerous outstanding arrest warrants and the recovery of nearly $1,700 in shoplifted merchandise.
