Women’s history celebrated and liquor licenses discussed at City Council

The March 6 Keizer City Council meeting was a quick affair, with one public hearing and two reports.

Mayor Cathy Clark opened the meeting by proclaiming March Women’s History month in Keizer. She invited all the women at the meeting, including councilors, to accept the proclamation. 

The council voted unanimously to recommend liquor license renewal for more than 60 Keizer establishments. The recommendation will be forwarded to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission. Liquor licenses are required to be renewed each year.

City Council welcomes new members

Two retirements, two new faces and a change in the Keizer City Council presidency highlighted the council meeting of Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Soraida Cross succeeded Roland Herrera in Position No. 4, Robert Husseman succeeded Elizabeth Smith in Position No. 5, and Mayor Cathy Clark and Councilor Daniel Kohler were sworn in for their new terms. Councilor Shaney Starr was elected council president to succeed Smith.

Miracle of Lights complaint heard by City Council

A long-time holiday tradition in Keizer was front and center at the Keizer City Council meeting on Monday, Dec. 5. The Gubser neighborhood’s Miracle of Christmas lighting display elicited comment from residents of the area concerning a route change.
