Celtics volleyball sinks Vikings, win streak hits double-digits

The hot start for Celtics volleyball continues to roll, bringing the season-opening win streak to 10.

McNary (10-0), the No. 2 ranked team in the state, traveled to North Salem, defeating the Vikings 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

The Celtics took the first set 25-10. The lowest score they’ve held an opponent to in a set this season.

A pair of 25-17 wins in the second and third sets sealed the victory for McNary

This was the second of three matches this season between McNary and North Salem. The Celtics took the first match, the league opener on Sept. 1, 3-0 as well.

And three days earlier the Celtics had another big win — or wins rather.

McNary swept through the Sprague tournament on Saturday, Sept. 17, defeating Dallas High School, North Medford High School and South Medford High School to take gold.

The Celtics opened the tournament with a 2-0 win against Dallas.

They followed that up with another 2-0 performance, this time against North Medford.

In the finals, McNary defeated South Medford 2-1 to lay claim to the Golden Ball.

As they look to further improve on the undefeated start, McNary will host South Salem on Thursday (score not available at time of print) before taking part in the Rogue Valley Classic tournament at North Medford on Saturday, Sept. 24.
