Heat postpones soccer season openers

The boys and girls soccer seasons were scheduled to start today against Century High School, but both games have been postponed due to the potentially high heat index.

Temperatures are predicted to reach the mid to high-90s in both Keizer and Hillsboro, prompting the “extreme caution” classification from the National Weather Service.

The decision was made early, and both games have been rescheduled for Monday, Sept. 12, still with the McNary boys hosting, with the girls on the road at Century.

The season will now begin next week, with games on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The boys will be at home versus McDaniel, while the girls travel to West Linn. Both games are at 7 p.m.
