Celtics impress at Perry Burlison Invitational

The Celtics were back on the mat at the Perry Burlison Invitational at Cascade High School over the weekend, and both boys and girls grapplers had a strong showing.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, the boys were in action, with McNary finishing in fifth place as a team out of 21 schools.

Max Blanco placed first at 113 pounds. Blanco finished third in the state last season at 106 pounds. 

Josh Friesen (170) finished in third place. Donovin Garcia (145) placed fourth, Isaiah Manzo (152) finished in fifth place, while Pedro Schay Vega (106) and Anthony Thomas (160) finished in sixth.

The girls were in action on Sunday, finishing fourth of 21. 

Ali Martinez (190) and Annie Shore (235) took first place in their classes.

Desiree Brown (235) placed third behind Shore, while McKenna Unger (125) brought home a second place finish. Kailyn Bollman-Lechner (100) and Dayanara Salvador (115) placed fourth, while Adriann Durkin (105) finished sixth.

The girls will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host Hillsboro and West Albany in a three team duals. 

The boys will participate in the North Bend Coast Classic on Dec. 9 and 10.
