Volleyball wins first two matches of season

The first two matches are in the books, and McNary volleyball is off to a good start.

With wins at Tualatin and Lakeridge, the Celtics (2-0) are among 10 6A teams that remain undefeated, and are ranked No. 3 by OSAA at the time of this story. They sit behind Sheldon (4-0) and South Salem (2-0).

Their season began on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Tualatin with a dominant, straight-set win. McNary looked to be in form out the gate as they allowed just 10 points in the first set, a sign of things to come.

The Celtics quickly finished things off, closing out the final two sets 25-12.

On Tuesday, Aug. 30, McNary traveled to Lakeridge, and picked up where they left off at Tualatin.

Against the Pacers, the Celtics put up another straight-set, dominant performance. They took the first set 25-13. The Pacers responded, challenging the Celtics in the second set before going down 25-17.

In the third and final set, McNary quickly finished off Lakeridge 25-14 to head home still undefeated.

The next match for McNary volleyball will be the first home game of the season, on Thursday, Sept. 1, when the North Salem Vikings come to Keizer.
