Sullivan speaking on arts for kids with disabilities

Kari Sullivan

Kari Sullivan will speak about Kaleidoscope before the community at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19. The event is sponsored by the McNary Ladies Golf Association Social Group. The public is invited.

There is no cost to attend but food and beverages will be available from the restaurant’s menu.

Kaleidoscope is an innovative arts experience for young people with developmental disabilities that Sullivan created for the Virginia Children’s Theater.

The program utilizes movement, song and imagination to enable students to shine on stage. The goal is to provide youth with special needs a fine arts experience, to grow confidence and to spark a conversation and redefinition of ‘disability’ into ‘exceptional ability.’

Sullivan has more than 40 years of performance experience, over 20 years experience as a K-12 educator.

She will bring the program to the Keizer-Salem area in a partnership with Keizer Homegrown Theatre.

Sullivan and her husband, Chip, moved to Keizer, from Virginia, when he was named PGA general manager of McNary Golf Club. Kari Sullivan also serves as manager of The View Restaurant at McNary Golf Club.
