Hello Keizer….

It is summer’s last hurrah as we all will enjoy the holiday in a myriad of ways: camping, staycationing, shopping or doing chores around the house.

City Councilor Robert Husseman announced his resignation this week due to health issues within his family. That will take him out of the country for long stretches of time.

This week’s issue includes a peview of the 2024 McNary Celtics football season.

The 2024 Oregon State Fair concludes on Monday, Sept. 2. There is time yet to head to the fairgrounds in Salem to take in fair food, live entertainment and of course all the animals.

Keizer Homegrown Conservatory will stage the final two performances this week of Lovecrafted, with show at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug.30 and Satirday, Aug.31. This horrifying world premiere based on H.P. Lovecraft stories.

The final concert in the Keizer Rapids Summer Sounds series will be Saturday, Sept. 7, when JFK takes the stage. This event is a benefit for the Keizer Community Food Bank. Concert organizers will collect non-perishable food items, but the food bank can use cash donations, as ell.
