McNary Boosters get ready for big bazaar

McNary High School boys soccer players were honored with all-conference awards recently. Coach Miguel Camarena and Senior Fernando Zepeda were named Coach and Player of the Year.

The Keizer Chamber of Commerce recently launched a business startup program and graduated participants Mateo Borrego, Andrea Louthan, Viki Fort, and Mayra Rosales.

Medieval satire, family drama, and political tension are coming to the stage at the Keizer Homegrown Theatre. "Lion in the Winter" will open starting, Friday, Nov. 7.

The Keizer Police Department introduced four new officers at a Keizer City Council meeting on Monday, Oct. 6.

The McNary High School football team lost its final game to Aloha on Thursday, Oct. 30. Tears were shed after the game as seniors bid farewell to the gridlock one last time.

Both of McNary's soccer teams qualified for the state playoffs. Round 1 is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1, with the boys at home and the girls on the road.

The Keizer Community Food Bank struggled to stay open on Thursday, Oct. 30, as people swarmed to the food bank in anticipation of the SNAP reduction starting Saturday, Nov.1

Jocelyn Schnurbusch, a McNary High School senior, beat the school's record for a second time during her race on Thursday, Oct. 16.

Due to the federal shutdown, Oregon SNAP benefits will not replenish starting Saturday, Nov. 1, leaving more than 7,000 Keizer residents without help to put food on the table.
