Graffiti everywhere

For the last several months, many Keizerites may have noticed the increase in graffiti around town near residences, in the parks and in other high traffic walking areas.

According to Parks Division Manager Robert Johnson, the graffiti nowadays is “the worst I have seen in my almost 17 years working for Keizer.”

One arrested in March shooting

A 26-year-old Keizer resident was arrested and charged on March 29, with five counts related to a shooting in the parking lot outside of Kolbys Restaurant, Bar and Billiards in the late hours of Saturday, March 2.

Almost lost to history

In her presentation, Rocker gave an in-depth review of Letitia’s life, noting multiple interesting facts about her life such as traveling the Oregon Trail while pregnant, managing and improving hundreds of acres of land in the Polk County area and winning two legal cases in racially exclusive Oregon over a decade before slavery was abolished.

Turf Field ground broken

With around 40 people in attendance, Keizer Mayor Cathy Clark led the groundbreaking of the first phase of the incoming turf field, located at Keizer Rapids Park.

Teachers strike averted

After a March 25 mediation session that began and ended early in the morning, both the teachers unions and the Salem-Keizer School District (SKPS) have finally come to a tentative agreement.
