Salmon bake feeds community

American Legion Post 9 of Keizer held its annual salmon bake at the Keizer Lions Club on Saturday, Oct. 7. About 100 meals were served, including salmon cooked by a constantly burning fire outside the club house.

Generous portions of salmon were served by Legionaires. Hallf baked chicken was also an option.

A silent auction and a raffle of a patriotic quilt closed out the event.

Attendees of the 2023 Boys State were recognized and presented with a medallion. They were: Faith Pitts of Monmouth’s Central High School, Grayton Woodard, Dane Vaughn, Zach Snegirev and Bradley Fryman, all of McNary High School.

Salmon cooks the native way.
