Volunteer spots on committees open

The City of Keizer is looking for volunteers to fill multiple open committee positions.

There are currently three vacancies on the Parks Advisory Board, one vacancy on the Budget Committee, as well as spots for high school students as youth committee liaisons.

The Parks Advisory Board reviews and studies issues surrounding the development and maintenance of the city’s parks, and makes recommendations to the council. The parks board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

The Budget Committee assists the council in examining and analyzing proposed budgets. State statutes require committee members to be registered voters in Keizer. The budget committee meets in May each year.

The youth committee liaisons positions are open to students of all ages. Each year, one liaison can be appointed to each board, committee or commission. The appointment is by majority vote from Councilors present. Liaison appointments run from Sept. 1 through May 30. Liaisons will attend committee meetings, share information with the youth council, and are urged to recruit candidates to fill their position.

Applications for any of the positions are available at Keizer City Hall, 930 Chemawa Rd. NE, online at keizer.org or by contacting Deputy City Recorder Dawn Wilson at 503-856-3418 or at [email protected]

Applications received by Oct. 3 will be interviewed at the Volunteer Coordinating Committee meeting on Thursday Oct. 12.
