Sheriff's gear stolen during break-in

An off-duty member of Marion County Sheriff's Office was storing some official gear in a personal vehicle on May 18 when it was stolen during a Southeast Salem break-in. Stolen items include a green tactical vest and helmet, a portable police radio, a gas mask, a medic kit, a black AR-15-style rifle, and magazines for pistol and rifle ammunition.
No further information is available at this time, but Marion County Sheriff Joe Kast said he is conducting an internal review to determine if there were violations of policies or procedures.
