KPD responds to car crash on Verda Lane, ending in arrest

The aftermath of the crash which resulted in the arrest of Monica Batsell (Keizer Police Dept.)

 On November 10, at approximately 8:45 a.m., the Keizer Police Department responded to a two vehicle crash in the 5300 block of Verda Ln NE. Officers arrived and conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of 38-year old, Monica Batsell of Keizer.

It was determined that Batsell was driving north on Verda Ln NE when she struck a parked City of Keizer Public Works service truck. The collision pushed the unoccupied service truck the distance of its length and up onto and over a curb. Batsell had her two children in the vehicle at the time of the crash and all three were uninjured.

Batsell was arrested and charged with:

• One count of driving under the influence of intoxicants = $5,000

• Two counts of reckless endangering = $10,000

• One count of reckless endangering of a highway worker = $5,000

Investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor to this crash.
