Football’s tough start continues with Tualatin

The road at the start of Connor Astley’s tenure as head football coach at McNary doesn’t get any easier in week two.

Eight days after losing to a top-five program coming off back-to-back quarter finals appearances in Lakeridge, McNary somehow steps up the competition when 2021 runners up Tualatin comes to Keizer, Saturday.

Celtics beat Saxons, remain undefeated

In an early matchup of top-ranked teams, McNary volleyball defeated South Salem on the road to remain undefeated.

McNary takes down McDaniel in season opener

It may have taken an extra week, but Celtic boys soccer started the season with a big win on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

The 3-1 home win against McDaniel, from Portland, comes a week after the original season opener against Century was canceled due to high heat index forecast. But one week later, the Celtics were ready to open their season.

Senators win Mavericks League championship

They were the league’s top offense, and surrendered the second least runs in the regular season. And while their season was up and down, the Senators finished the 2022 Mavericks League season on top.

The 9-2 win against the Mavericks in the championship game on Saturday, Sept. 3, capped off an amazing run through the final month of the season. The Senators went 11-3 in August, averaging more than 10 runs per game in that time, and moved from last place to first — giving them the regular season pennant and an automatic berth in Saturday’s game.

Rough start to Astley era, but still encouraged

The first game for head coach Connor Astley and the McNary Celtics may not have gone how most of them hoped, but Astley isn’t discouraged.

Following a 47-0 loss to Lakeridge to open the season Friday, Sept. 2, Astley was still positive in his assessment of his team, as well as the talent level of their opponent.
