Celts host first Candy Cane Classic, take 3rd

Three days of wall-to-wall boys basketball at McNary ended with the Celts finishing third at their holiday tournament.

McNary defeated Ridgeview of Redmond 45-39 on Monday, Dec. 22, to close out its play in the first-ever Keizer Candy Cane Classic.

The Celts hosted teams from McKay, Sunset, Sheldon, Ridgeview, Mountainside of Beaverton, North Medford and Tigard in a tournament that opened on Saturday, Dec. 20.

McNary won its first game 70-44 over Tigard on Saturday and lost to Mountainside 60-32 on Sunday.

Sunset won the tournament title, beating Mountainside. 

The Celts are 4-2 in preseason play. Next up, they head to Bend for the Caldera Holiday Tournament at Caldera High School that starts Saturday, Dec. 27.
