Photo Gallery: Santa greets Keizer kids on fire district’s Candy Cane Day

Cars packed with kids eager to see Santa Claus and receive candy canes rolled into the Keizer Fire District Saturday, Dec. 20.

The occasion was the annual candy cane distribution, a Christmastime tradition. In its early years, fire crews drove into all the Keizer neighborhoods to hand out the canes. With the growth of the city and demands on fire crews, the district shifted to a drive-thru event, which remains a treat for Keizer children.

Photographer Steve Schnurbusch captured the festivities at this year’s event.
