The Salem-Keizer Career Technical Education Center will have a new program after the Salem-Keizer School Board unanimously approved plans to purchase an airport hangar at McNary Field at Tuesday’s school board meeting.
Danielle Bethell has resigned from the Salem-Keizer School Board a little over three years after taking office.
School board Chair Ashley Carson Cottingham announced Bethell’s resignation at the start of Tuesday’s school board meeting, saying Bethell had informed board leadership of her decision Monday night.
SKPS announced on Tuesday the decision on an executive search firm for superintendent, Human Capital Enterprises.
On Friday, the SKPS board announced that meetings will no longer be open to the public in-person.
This comes weeks after initial petitions to recall three board members were filed with Marion County.

In a 4-3 decision on Tuesday, Aug. 9, the Salem-Keizer School Board voted to ban the concealed carry of firearms on campuses.
With the approval of the resolution, it now goes to Superintendent Christy Perry to form and enforce a policy keeping those with concealed handgun licenses (CHL) from bringing firearms on campus.
