Police department calls: Speeding driver arrested by Keizer police for DUII

A Keizer man stopped for speeding on Northeast Cherry Avenue on Saturday, Jan. 24, gave police a false name before he was arrested, Keizer police reported.

Sone Yamamoto was stopped near Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway at about 5:30 a.m.

He was arrested for DUII, reckless driving and giving false information to police.

In other police activity:

•Officers responded to a report at about 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, that a man had assaulted a customer at VP Racing Fuels, 4495 River Rd. N. The victim left before police arrived and couldn’t be identified.

Officers arrested Timothy R. Gilbert Jr. 28, of Keizer for criminal trespass and theft for taking a pair of sunglasses from the convenience store.

•On Tuesday, Jan. 20, Salem police contacted Keizer police about a vehicle found on Northeast Front Street that hadn’t been moved in several days and was reported stolen. The vehicle had been stolen on Jan. 11 when it was left running to warm up at a home on North Glynbrook Street in Keizer. Police said the vehicle appeared undamaged.
