Opera is coming to Keizer. Keizer Homegrown Theatre (KHT) will present An Evening of Opera with four local singers opening on Friday, Sept. 8.

Local artists Bethany Staats, Stacia Purdy, Michael Merrill and Simon Staples will perform 16 arias and duets. They will be joined by pianist Christine L. Smith. Linda Baker is staging the evening at KHT’s stage on the second floor of the Keizer Cultural Center at 980 Chemawa Rd. NE.

Soprano Staats said that she and Merrill and Purdy were involved with last fall’s The Music Man. Conversations then led to this passion project for the singers.

Performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10.

Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors (65+) and students.
