Varsity basketball in the state of Oregon will have a slightly different feel come the 2023-24 season.
A 35-second shot clock for both boys and girls varsity basketball was approved unanimously by the OSAA executive board on Monday, something both California and Washington have had for decades.
A coaches survey from the Oregon Basketball Coaches Association following last season included a question asking “Are you in favor of implementing a shot clock?” 220 of the 297 coaches that answered said “yes” they were in favor. Only 48 responded “no” to a shot clock.
