Volcanoes offense returns down the stretch

Coming into Friday’s series opener with the Campesinos, the Volcanoes offense had gone dormant, scoring just 26 runs in the seven games played in August.

But in their four games with the Campesinos this week, the Volcanoes offense which at one time led the league in scoring reawakened. They outscored the Campesinos 34-18 in the four game sweep.

Surging ‘Sinos sweep

Twice Mante Woods came up with the bases loaded in extra innings for the Campesinos this week. Twice he delivered walk-off wins.

There had only been one walk-off win this season in the Mavericks League — the Volcanoes last week against the Senators. With their two in Week 12, the Campesinos finished off a three-game sweep and are now only .5 game behind the Mavericks for first place.

Wild week 11 in the Mavericks League

Week 11 of the Mavericks League provided some firsts for the league and season. The first walk-off win of the season, the first player to record a home run and be credited with the win, season debuts from a few players, and it all ended with standings still looking crowded.

Disla does it all for Sens in extra inning W

Jeff Disla accomplished something very few can claim in a league with a designated hitter. On Sunday, Disla homered and recorded the win on the mound for the Senators against the Volcanoes in a 12-11 12-inning saga.

His day started in centerfield, as it normally does. In the fourth inning, Disla’s two-run shot put the Senators up 5-3. But there was plenty of game left.
