The cold weather certainly adds to the season’s atmosphere in Keizer.

The Christmas season in Keizer kicks off with the lighting of Keizer’s Christmas tree at 6 p,.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Walery Plaza. Santa Claus will arrive at 6:45 p.m., courtesy of the Keizer Fire District. There will be a drawing to select one boy and one girl to help Santa flip the switch and light the tree.

There will be a special city council meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2 regarding the vacant council seat. Three candidates will make presentations and answer questions from council members before they vote.
