Police Scanner – June 15 – June 21
A group of juveniles playing basketball at Kennedy Elementary School on Thursday, June 11, were chased and shot at with polymer balls called Orbeez, according to Keizer police.
A car with three teenaged boys pulled up to the school at about 8 p.m. and gave chase. No one was injured and one victim provided police the license plate information on the vehicle.
Keizer boys ages 16 and 17 and a Salem 17-year-old were later taken into custody for disorderly conduct. One of the attackers knew one of the basketball players, police reported.
• In other police activity, officers responded at about 9 p.m. Thursday, June 18, after a 34-year-old Keizer man accidentally shot himself in the stomach while cleaning his pistol. The victim, not identified by police, was taken to Salem Hospital for treatment.
• On Monday, June 15, a 26-year-old man alerted police that he was being extorted over a sexually explicit video he sent a few months ago.
“The victim is now being extorted from the unknown suspect in that if he doesn’t pay the suspect money, the video will be released and sent to the internet,” according to Lt. Trevor Wenning of the Keizer Police Department.
He said the phone number used to make the threat appeared to be in Florida and police had no suspect information.
