Police department calls: Drunk driver crashes into Verda pole

Northeast Verda Lane was closed for a time on the evening of Monday, Oct. 27, after a drunk driver crashed into a power pole near Northeast 18th Avenue, according to Keizer police.

Alfonso Sanchez-Cortes, 52, of Salem, was taken to Salem Hospital for treatment and then accused of DUII, resisting arrest and reckless driving.

•A 17-year-old teen was robbed of his property in the 5100 block of North River Road at about 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27. The next day, police arrested Nery Bravo-Bravo, 18, of Keizer, for first-degree robbery, menacing and unlawful use of a weapon.

•Someone broke into a home in the 600 block of Northeast Dietz Avenue sometime between late Monday, Oct. 27, and the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 28. The burglar broke into through a back door and took tools, according to Keizer police.
