Keizer volunteers to be recognized at city appreciation event

Keizer volunteers will be recognized at an event put on by the city of Keizer on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Keizer Event Center.

Hosted by the city’s environmental division, the event is open to those who participated in the trash pick-ups, tree inventory, painting of the Big Toy Playground, and other volunteer service with the city.

“This is an appreciation for Trashy Tuesday, the storm drains, and all of the different programs that we have for volunteers,” Mayor Cathy Clark said.

At the event, Keizer volunteers can enjoy light refreshments, free merchandise, and live music from Old Brown Coat. The local acoustic trio specializes in folk and Americana music.

The city will also have activities for children and will recognize volunteer achievements, such as the amount of trash collected, the number of trees surveyed, and the total number of volunteers.

“It’s really important to say thank you to all of our volunteers who give hours and hours of work,” Clark said. “We want to make sure that people know they are noticed and appreciated, and about the difference that they are making in our own community.”

Those interested in attending should contact Stacey Perry, the city’s environmental education coordinator at [email protected].
