Keizer street projects lined up for summer

Several Keizer streets are due for a facelift this summer.

The Keizer City Council recently approved a $900,000 contract with KNL Industries to resurface all or portions of some streets. Engineers estimated the work on 1.7 miles of street would cost $1.3 million.

The summer list includes realigning the intersection Northeast River Rock Drive and 14th Avenue so motorists have a better view of traffic. River Rock Drive will get a new surface at the same time.

Other streets getting attention include:

•Northeast Shady Lane.

•North Evans Avenue.

•North Manbrin Drive.

•Northeast Burgundy Avenue.

•Northeast Burgundy Court.

•Northeast Shadowwood Loop.

•Northeast Amy Lane.

•Northeast Leprichaun Court.

•Northeast Blarney Stone Court.

Bill Lawyer, city public works director, recently explained to city councilors that streets are picked for resurfacing each year based on a scoring system.

He noted that Keizer had a street-building boom in the 1990s. He said that means a lot of streets will come due at the same time for routine repaving.
