Celtics fall just short of conference title

The McNary Celtics and Sprague Olympians clashed Thursday night in a dual meet to decide the Central Valley Conference champion.

And on an electric night in front of full bleachers, the Celtics came so close to the conference title, but the Olympians came away with a 39-30 win.

Liam Koenig put McNary up 30-23 with a pinfall victory at 126 pounds, but Sprague won the final five matches of the meet, scoring 16 points along the way.

Each school had two forfeits, but the rest of McNary’s points came from three pinfall wins.

Sprague only managed one pinfall, but had a technical fall, a sudden victory, a major decision and three decisions.
