McNary Latino Club members met after school on Tuesday, Dec. 7 to wrap presents in preparation for the Saturday, Dec. 11 Keizer Holiday Lights Parade. The students will hand out the presents during the parade and also sell tamales and hot chocolate. The proceeds from their sales will go towards an end of year trip.
“In Mexico, it’s a tradition to take an end of the school year trip so we want to do that with club,” said Loreli Estrada, who founded the club in 2005 and now works at McNary High School. “We hope to take students to the coast or somewhere else they might not usually get to go.”
