LETTER: Support for Mike DeBlasi

To the Editor:

Last week, Keizertimes published endorsements for city council candidates. Two of those are Michele Roland-Schwartz and Dylan Juran—both of whom will bring strong skills and a fresh, forward-looking outlook to our council.

Another candidate who deserves your vote is Mike De Blasi, competing for council position #1. Mike is a good fit for the future of Keizer because he takes a long-range view, with consideration for all residents of our community.

Mike has been an active Keizer volunteer for many years, with experience on the Keizer Planning Commission and the Traffic Safety & Pedestrian/Bicycle committee. I served on that second committee alongside Mike, and my husband served on the Planning Commission with him. We both saw what dedication he brought as a committee member and as chair.

Mike does not just show up at meetings. He explores the issues, compiles data, and offers thoughtful, fact-based proposals. He is a team member who listens to other views, then strives to reach solutions that are fair and comprehensive.

This year, our council has been working to update our city charter and move towards a more fully accessible, all-inclusive environment for Keizer’s future. Mike has the right outlook and skills to further these council goals and help Keizer thrive in this next decade.
