George Warren Standish

George Warren Standish, 84, of Brooks, Ore., got his wings Friday Aug. 21, 2020. He was born in Bellingham, Wash., on Feb. 4, 1936, to Leo Percy and Edna Mary Wallace Standish. George had two sisters and one brother. He joined the Army at age  17, served on the DMZ in Korea until 1956, then came home with a Military injury.

He married Sally Jo Jones in which three amazing children were born.

He started G&R Auto Wrecking with his brother-in -law Rudy Austad, he then went to work for Weyerhaeufer where he ended up with a serious industrial injury, and was disabled. He was strong-willed was determined to not let it beat him.

He married Dorene Isham Koenig in 1978, he then started up a new G&R Auto Wreckers. This being the love of his life, he always wanted (G)Gary and (R)Robert his sons to carry the name. Even more proud that as we speak the G and R men became more than a parent could ever ask.

He was a member of the American Legion Post # 0136, Brooks Historical Society and BCCA.

Loving animals and children were his being. He raised many Herford and Angus cattle, nursing all the babies who needed him, including kitties, goats, calves and birds.

His grandchildren were his world and he was so proud of the hard working children. He never missed a softball, football or basketball game in which one or more grandchildren were playing. The great grandchildren are what lit up the room for him, his special name for each. “My little dancing girl.” He couldn’t wait to find someone who would listen to how proud he was of “Joe.”
