Here’s the latest from Keizertimes

Good morning.

One of the more unusual stories developed in Keizer in recent days, when a private group orchestrated its own sting. The folks in this operation, based in Texas, target what they see as child predators.

Police made two arrests, but information is scarce about the Keizer man arrested. He was booked into jail, released, and now Marion County District Attorney Paige Clarkson and her staff are staying mum about the case. Usually, prosecutors file formal charges soon after a police arrest.

That’s not the case here, and Clarkson’s office has offered no explanation.

Coincidentally, the New York Times on Thursday published a detailed story about such vigilante operations across the country.

Keizertimes will continue to press for an explanation for why this criminal case has taken what appears to be an unusual twist. We’ll keep you posted.

If you have story ideas, suggestions, questions or even concerns, reach out. Send a note to Editor Les Zaitz (publisher@keizertimes).

Meantime, here’s recent news from your local Keizertimes team and our other colleagues.
