Clear Lake residents may have noticed the construction of new townhomes in their neighborhood.
The 20 homes, built on a Northeast Barbara Avenue site and accessible from Northeast Clear Lake Road, include two- and three-bedroom layouts that will cost over $400,000. Dwellings will range from 1,500 to 1,600 square feet.
Mark Farrow of Trademark Enterprises, the project’s developer, said the homes are aimed at first-time buyers and those looking for a new home but couldn’t afford a larger lot.
He anticipates young families would be interested in the townhomes due to the location’s proximity to schools. Forest Ridge Elementary School is close to the site.
Farrow noted that no bedrooms will be located on the first floor of the units, which may not be suitable for those with mobility challenges.
The project includes two duplexes and buildings with a row of four, five and seven townhomes. Each home sits on its own property that is sized between 2,000 and 2,500 square feet, Farrow said.
The townhomes will have a “northwest contemporary” design, including sloped roofs and vertical wood material along the sides.
Farrow said the duplexes are under construction and are expected to be finished in August. The rows of four and five townhomes are planned for completion in September or October, and the row of seven townhomes is expected by the end of the year.
The project was spurred after the property at 1128 Barbara Ave. N.E. became available, having one house on it, Farrow said. After assessing options, Farrow said developers determined townhomes were the best use for the lot.
He explained that the higher housing density helped reduce land costs and make homes more affordable.
