Keizer firefighters and medics will soon have access to ballistic vests when they respond to calls, funded by a grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The foundation granted the Keizer Fire District $28,674 for 16 vests, according to a press release. The national nonprofit was created by the founders of Firehouse Subs to provide equipment, prevention education, scholarships and disaster relief to first responders and support to veterans.
