Keizer’s December art will showcase works of all kinds

The Keizer Art Association will host its annual Artist Showcase gallery through December.

Art of any medium or family-friendly subject can be entered for the show, which will run from Thursday, Dec. 4, through Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Keizer Cultural Center. A reception will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, followed by the association’s Holiday Open House until 6 p.m.

Debbie Napier, an association volunteer, said the open house is an opportunity for people to meet the association members, and a discount will be offered for gift shop items during that time.

Awards will be announced for best of show, juror’s merit, and first, second- and third place in each media category. The best of show winner will be awarded $100.

While requirements for the showcase are unchanged from previous years, Napier said she expects to see more pyrography at this year’s show — art that involves burning designs into wood.

Napier said she wants Keizer residents to know “about the amazing talent and visions of the people who put art in” the show.

“These are the people who also give their time to the art gallery and to the River Walk Art Fair,” Napier said. “It’s just such a varied cornucopia of talent.”

More information on submitting artwork for the showcase can be found on the Keizer Art Association website.
