Police Scanner – August 25 – August 31
A Salem woman found injured along River Road North on Saturday, Aug. 30, may have been the victim of a hit-and-run, according to the Keizer Police Department.
Police said they found a 28-year-old woman semi-conscious with a head injury at about 4:30 p.m. in the bike lane on River Road near Northeast Meadowridge Street. The cyclist, who police aren’t identifying, was taken to Salem Hospital with possibly life-threatening injuries.
“Keizer detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding her injuries and have not ruled out assault or hit and run as a cause,” according to Lt. Trevor Wenning.
•In other recent police activity, officers responded Thursday, Aug. 28, to the report of a theft from the Target store at Keizer Station. The thief left the store with a cart containing about $300 in merchandise.
Police arrested Maxton Whipple, a 24-year-old transient, nearby in connection with the shoplifting. He was accused of second-degree theft, criminal trespass and possession of burglary tools.
•On Monday, Aug. 25, police responded to a reported attempted burglary at a home on Northeast Jacobe Court, just west of Keizer Station. A front door knob was damaged but no one got in.
Packages delivered to the front porch had been opened but nothing was taken, according to Keizer police.
