Professional baseball players will sign autographs at Roto-Rooter Park

Former Major League Baseball players will sign autographs at Roto-Rooter Park this month. All signings will be held at 5:30 p.m., before a Maverick Baseball League game.

Mike Cameron, an ex-Seattle Mariners outfielder, will do the first signing on Friday, Aug. 22. Andre Dawson, an inductee into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, will hold a signing on Friday, Aug. 29. The next day, on Saturday, Aug. 30, former Mariners pitcher Jamie Moyer will hold a signing

The autographs are free for those paying admission to the game.. Standard bleacher seats cost around $30.

“The first time through the line, you can get two items signed per person,” said Mickey Walker, league CEO. “But you can go through as many times as you want, assuming that the line is manageable.”

Dawson won’t sign larger items for unspecified reasons, including sweatshirts and baseball bats. Instead, people should bring hats, baseball cards, and other small accessories.

Walker anticipates fairly quick lines, with around 15-minute wait times.

“The lines do move pretty quickly because we’ll have people managing the flow,” Walker said. “But I recommend getting there early because the earlier you get there, the shorter the line.”

He said for Dawson, wait times could range closer to 45 minutes.

“The other two…are legends in their own right. But Dawson, he’s a Hall of Famer. That’s a big deal.”

Dawson, known as the “Hawk” by baseball fans, was the second player in baseball history to reach 400 home runs and 300 stolen bases. He retired in 1997, and by the end of his career, Dawson had hit 438 home runs.

Cameron, who retired over a decade ago, gained fame by hitting four home runs in a single game against the Chicago White Sox in 2012.

Moyer, who retired in 2012, pitched 1,239 strikeouts in his career – the third most in Mariners history.

The players will also throw the first pitch of the game, Walker said.

He contacts players for signings through mutual connections and professional baseball agents. While Roto-Rooter Park has welcomed many legends throughout the years, Dawson is the first Hall of Fame inductee to do a signing since 2019.
