PHOTOS: Hundreds turn out for local Fun Friday family event

It was all about fun last Friday, July 25, at Saint Edward Catholic Church in Keizer.

The Fun Friday event, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., featured games, free food, and dozens of booths from community resource partners.

Hundreds of people turned out for the event, which was put on by the Kennedy and Cummings Neighborhood Family Councils.

Kids enjoyed cornhole and other games, vying for prizes such as toys and candy. Parents browsed the community resource booths, including one for Catholic Family Services. Many walked away with armfuls of pamphlets.

There were burgers and hot dogs for the crowd, and Eduardo Angulo, director of the neighborhood councils, passed out water bottles to keep attendees cool as the temperature neared the high 80s.

The Community Business and Education Leaders manage the councils. Founded in 2019, the collaborative seeks to build community resilience, which strengthens families and supports world-class education in Salem-Keizer.
