Walk to End Alzheimer’s scheduled for Oct. 9 in Salem

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s Greater Salem is scheduled at Salem’s Riverfront Park on Saturday, Oct. 9.

On Walk day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer’s with the Promise Garden ceremony — a mission-focused experience that signifies solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the Promise Garden flowers represent people’s connection to Alzheimer’s — their personal reasons to end the disease.

The Walk is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Though the Greater Salem Walk is planned to be in-person, the health and safety of participants, staff and volunteers remain the top priorities. This year, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s will implement safety protocols including physical distancing, masks, contactless registration, hand sanitizing stations and more.

Walkers can join live at Riverfront Park or walk from home in their own neighborhoods.
