The Keizer Chamber of Commerce's First Citizen Awards banquet was held Saturday, Jan. 21, honoring some of the city's best.

McNary senior linebacker and running back Hunter Ruberto was named the Oregon Army National Guard Most Valuable Teammate for football.

The Celtics took the opening drive and marched down the field Friday night against the Saxons to open the game with a touchdown.
But the McNary offense would struggle, despite scores from Jake Allen, Ryan Lyda and Hunter Ruberto, for most of the night, going down on the road at South Salem 55-19.

The Celtics traveled to South Medford on Friday to open conference play with a 55-21 loss.

McNary football lost in the home opener 44-19 against Tualatin, now the OSAA No. 4 team in the state heading into Week 3.
But one play in the first half could have changed the momentum of the game.

New coach on the block, Connor Astley, helped craft the Celtics spread offense as an assistant to former head coach Jeff Auvinen, but now Astley takes the reins to lead a McNary squad that graduated nine all-conference players
