City to take Keizer community’s pulse on park pavilion 

Keizer city officials are asking residents whether a long-discussed pavilion belongs at Keizer Rapids Park – and if so, what it should look like and where it should go. A community listening session is set for 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, as leaders weigh a concept that’s drawn both enthusiasm for new events space and concern about preserving the park’s natural feel.

Mario Garcia, 28, is recovering at home after being shot in an unsolved incident at Keizer Station, with doctors leaving the bullet lodged in his scalp. His wife, Julissa Cruz, called his survival “nothing short of a miracle” and described the terrifying night when gunfire shattered their car’s rear window while their two children sat in the back seat. Police have made no arrests in the Feb. 9 shooting.

Wilco sees opportunity with expansion into Keizer
