The Keizer Community Library in partnership with the Children’s Educational Theater is putting on a free educational play for children of all ages.

The play will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, at Keizer city hall located at 930 Chemawa Rd. N.

Tickets are available from the library’s front desk during library hours.

With a cast and crew of entirely children, the play, The One AcPlay Disaster by Don Zoldis, is a comedy about a casino heist that goes terribly wrong due to high tempers, miscommunications and prideful behavior.

The program has children fulfill these positions to give them a more robust understanding of the theater, according to the educational theater website.

Library hours are Monday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Starting out as a program of the Salem- Keizer School District the Children’s Education Theater became a nonprofit in 2005.

“This program is not about turning someone into an actor,” said Phyllis Quanbeck, executive director and a former drama teacher at South Salem High School,. “It’s about helping kids to find their own talent and about cultivating creative, innovative team players.”
