Police department calls: Curious about car, Keizer officer discovers business break-in

Police Scanner – January 12 – January 18

An officer’s curiosity about a car parked before dawn on Northeast Cherry Avenue led to the arrest of two men on burglary charges.

The officer spotted a car “parked in the shadows” about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, but it was gone when the officer returned to the spot, according to Lt. Trevor Wenning of the Keizer Police Department.

The officer then discovered a burglary at Martinez Tire Center on North River Road at Northeast Manbrin Drive. A door had been forced open and a tire stolen, police said.

About a half hour later, police located the suspect car. Crystal L. Wells, 40, of Salem, was arrested for burglary, criminal mischief, theft and possession of methamphetamines. Jake D. Tadeo, 36, of Keizer, was arrested for burglary, criminal mischief and theft.

•In other police action, an elderly Keizer woman was found to have been the victim of a scam by someone pretending to be a federal marshal.

“The woman has lost a significant amount of her savings,” Wenning reported.

He said that because the case is under investigation no other details would be released.

•Police took a report of a rape early on Saturday, Jan. 17. The agency said it would release no other information as it investigates.
