More than 2,000 shoppers browsed a festive array of goods at the Holiday Bazaar at McNary High School on Saturday, Nov. 22.

The gym and the commons were packed with vendors – 125 in all, filling 165 booth spaces with gifts and goods, everything from blankets to buns, and soap to soup.

The annual event is a McNary Athletic Booster Club fundraiser, and organizers say they raised more than $8,000 from vendor booths, raffles and concessions. Expanding the sale area was a factor in the success.

“We were able to expand and bring in more vendors that have been on our waiting list for a while,” noted Kate Hamm-Helvie, booster club secretary.

Even Santa put in an appearance, chatting with shoppers of all ages and posing for photos.

The event also collected food and items for the school’s Celtic Closet.

The Boosters use the proceeds to support student athletics. Organizers gave a shoutout to the wrestling team for helping set up the bazaar the night before and loading goods for vendors, and to the National Honor Society students who helped with lunch and concessions.
