A Native Plant Celebration offering fun and information is set for Saturday, Oct. 25, at Keizer Rapids Park.
Participants can help replant a rain garden onsite and learn more about how native plants help wildlife and the ecosystem.
The event, from 9 a.m. to noon, also will include:
• Information on rain gardens and how they reduce flooding and treat rainwater, presented by the City of Keizer.
• Tips on native plant gardening from the OSU Extension Master Gardeners.
• A guided habitat hike with experts from the Marion Soil and Water Conservation District, offering information on native plants, pollinators and birds of the area.
• A seed swap for people to exchange their native seeds and obtain more.
Organizers call the program a great opportunity for participants, whether seasoned gardeners or just “plant-curious,” to help make a difference in the local green space. To register, visit https://arcg.is/CiLS91 online.
