McNary’s football team is once again a winner.
The Celts defeated the Centennial Eagles in Gresham 19-15 on Friday, Sept. 12, notching the first victory for the program since 2021.
McNary, under new Coach Josh Riddell, is now 1-2 on the season and opens league play on Friday, Sept. 19, traveling to Forest Grove.
The Celts last posted a W when they beat Medford 37-7 in the first round of state playoffs on Nov. 5, 2021.
The loss in the next round of playoffs that year started a 30-game losing streak that ended in Gresham. The Celts were winless in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and OSAA moved the team to 5A play for the 2025 season.
