A Salem man has been charged with leaving a woman injured along North River Road after she fell out of his car in August.
Efrain Eduardo Salazar-Noriega, 34, was charged with failure to perform duties of a driver to an injured person, a felony crime.
Keizer police on Saturday, Aug 30, found Kenia M. Rios, 28, semi-conscious in the bike lane of River Road near the entrance to The Meadows subdivision. She was hospitalized with serious injuries but later released, according to Lt. Trevor Wenning.
“Through our investigation it was determined that Ms. Rios was a passenger in a car and had fallen out while the car was in motion,” Wenning said. “Witnesses observed Ms. Rios hanging out of the car or sitting on a window just prior to the incident.”
Police arrested Salazar-Noriega three days later.
•Two men were accused of first-degree theft after a Keizer police officer spotted them on Sunday, Aug. 31, leaving in a hurry from Marshalls department store in Keizer Station with a loaded shopping cart.
An officer heard someone shout “You shouldn’t shoplift” as he drove past and the two men took off running when the officer approached, according to Lt. Trevor Wenning of the Keizer Police Department.
Aaron J. Evans, 42, listed as a transient, was arrested for first-degree theft.
At the same time, a resident reported man in his backyard on Northeast Woodlawn Court said he was being chased. The man was bleeding from the arm, an injury that occurred as he jumped fences in the area west of Keizer station.
Jordan Carter, 35, of Sweet Home, was treated at Salem Hospital and then cited for first-degree theft.
•On Monday, Sept. 1, police responded just before midnight to a report of a drunk driver in line at In-N-Out Burger in Keizer Station. Police spotted an open beer and a gun in the man’s car. The serial number on the handgun had been obliterated.
Larry Mercadao, 22, of Federal Way, Washington, was arrested for DUII and altering a firearm identification number.
