Wetlands restoration in Keizer nears its final stages

The project to restore the six-acre floodplain across from Claggett Creek Park is nearing its final stages.

“It’s going well,” said Bill Lawyer, Keizer Public Works Department director. “The contractor has removed the berm along the creek, and we started building the base for the walkway.”

The berm was originally installed to prevent flooding in the field. Now, come rainy season, Claggett Creek should flood into the wetlands.
