Keizer Police Department calls

Police Scanner – June 15 – June 22

An Uber driver picking up a food delivery on Tuesday, June 17, found his vehicle smoking when he left the restaurant, according to Keizer police.

Josh Underwood of Salem encountered the trouble as he left the Chipotle outlet at Keizer Station.

“His Ford Taurus caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames prior to police and fire arrival. Two parked vehicles also sustained damage as a result of the fire,” according to Lt. Trevor Wenning.

He said no one was injured.

• On Wednesday, June 18, police responded at 5:40 a.m. to a disturbance at home in North Shirley Lane. They reported that Emilio Arevalo, 28, a transient, had gone to his family’s home. A vehicle was damaged and then set on fire. Police located Arevalo in the neighborhood and arrested him for second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief and reckless burning.

• Police responded at about 2 a.m. Thursday, June 19, to a report of a fight at Ringo’s Tavern at 4170 River Rd. N. The people were gone when police arrived but they later located Manuel V. Morales, 21, of Salem, in northeast Salem. He was arrested for fourth-degree assault and DUII.

• A Keizer man who called police on Friday, June 20, to report he had been assaulted instead himself was arrested by police. Patrons at the Pour House Saloon, 4820 River Rd. N., tried to stop a man from leaving because he was intoxicated.

Police located Jeffrey Kotoro, 26, of Keizer, on Northeast Verda Lane and arrested him for DUII.

“It was determined that Mr. Kotora was the aggressor and the other patrons were defending themselves before he left the location,” Wenning reported.

• Police reported several encounters with a transient on the night of Saturday, June 21. They said the man was ordered off the Burger King property at Keizer Station at about 8 p.m. Just after midnight, the man was wandering around the Roto-Rooter Stadium parking lot, refusing to leave when employees directed him to do so.

Keizer police ordered the man to leave the property. Later that day, the man was caught shoplifting at Target at Keizer Station.

Wayne Hedlund, 56, was arrested for trespass and theft.
